Bordetella holmesii is a Gram-negative bacillus associated with bacteremia, endocarditis, and respiratory illness, mainly in immunocompromised patients. PMID: 14999621 B. holmesii can be detected by PCR-based methods targeting fumC, a housekeeping gene which encodes the fumarate hydratase class II protein.
