Term Description

The total number of eosinophilic white blood cells quantitated first by performing a manual hemocytometer count for the white blood cell count, then quantitating the percentage of eosinophils from a peripheral smear. The absolute eosinophil count is determined by multiplying the total white blood cell count by the percentage of eosinophils counted on the peripheral smear.
