Part Descriptions
LP14355-9 Creatinine
Creatinine or creatine anhydride, is a breakdown product of creatine phosphate in muscle. The loss of water molecule from creatine results in the formation of creatinine. It is transferred to the kidneys by blood plasma, whereupon it is eliminated by glomular filtration and partial tubular excretion. Creatinine is usually produced at a fairly constant rate and measuring its serum level is a simple test. A rise in blood creatinine levels is observed only with marked damage to functioning nephrons; therefore this test is not suitable for detecting early kidney disease. Creatine and creatinine are metabolized in the kidneys, muscle, liver and pancreas.

LP15749-2 Normetanephrine
Normetanephrine is an extra-neuronal catechol-0-methyl transferase (COMT) metabolite of the catecholamine norepinephrine. Measurement of plasma metanephrines is more sensitive (but may be less specific) than measurement of catecholamines for the detection of pheochromocytoma.

54343-9 3-Methoxytyramine/Creatinine [Mass Ratio] in 24 hour Urine
Part Descriptions
LP30691-7 3-Methoxytyramine
3-Methoxytyramine (3-MT), also known as 3-methoxy-4-hydroxyphenethylamine, is a metabolite of the neurotransmitter dopamine formed by the introduction of a methyl group to dopamine by the enzyme catechol-O-methyl transferase (COMT). 3-MT can be further metabolized by the enzyme monoamine oxidase (MAO) to form homovanillic acid (HVA), which is then typically excreted in the urine.
Originally thought to be inactive, 3-MT has recently been shown to act as an agonist of the TAAR1.

Part Descriptions
LP14467-2 Metanephrines
Metanephrines = (metanephrine+ normetanepharine) The first is the O methylated metobolyte of eppineprhine and the latter the O-methylatead metabolyte of noreppinephrine. They can be measured as a unit but more commoly today are measured seperately and called fractionated metanephrines and total metanprhines is the sum of the two. Both of these can be conjugated with sulfate and the conjugated form is mostly produced in the GI tract and is the predominant form in plasma.
