Term Description
The location or setting where a health care service (e.g. procedure, treatment) was provided. This term was created for, but not limited in use to, the Service Delivery Location template in the HL7 Implementation Guide for CDA® Release 2: National Health Care Surveys Release 1. The value set associated with this term is based on the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) location code system that has been developed over a number of years through CDC's interaction with a variety of healthcare facilities and is intended to serve a variety of reporting needs where coding of healthcare service locations is required.
