IgG+IgM.porcine [Presence] in Pleural fluid from Fetus by Immune diffusion (ID)
Active
Part Description
LP262389-2 IgG+IgM.porcine
Veterinary Medicine:
The causes for abortions in swine are separated into two categories: primary infections of the reproductive tract that result in 30-40% of abortions, mummies and stillbirths; the second category includes toxins, environmental and nutritional stresses, and systemic disease in the sow which account for the remaining 60-70% of aborted fetuses. To determine the cause of death, fetal serum or thoracic fluid immunoglobulin levels are measured. Swine fetuses become immunocompetent after 70 days of gestation. Healthy fetal pigs are born without immunoglobulins and immunoglobulins from the sow do not cross the placenta. So, any immunoglobulins found in the deceased pig is an indication that an infectious agent most likely caused its demise, rather than an environmental or non-infectious cause.[Diseases of Swine - Google Books, pp 259-266]
