Part Description
LP265335-2 Gamithromycin
Veterinary Medicine: Gamithromycin is a semisynthetic macrolide antibiotic used in the treatment and prevention of bovine respiratory disease (BRD) that is administered as a single subcutaneous dose. The antibiotic inhibits bacteria protein synthesis and is effective against Mannheimia haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida and Histophilus somni bacteria, which are the three most common pathogens found in BRD. Gamithromycin and similar antibiotics are found in lung tissue at a higher concentration for a longer period of time compared to plasma, which makes them especially effective for respiratory diseases such as BRD.
