Delafloxacin (DLX), trade name Baxdela, is a fluoroquinolone antibacterial used to treat acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections (ABSSSIs), which include cellulitis and erysipelas, wound infections and major skin abscesses. DLX is active against a broad spectrum of microorganisms, including those resistant to other fluoroquinolones such as MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus), a major cause of hospital-acquired skin infections.
