Left eye Dark-mediated rod adaptation time
Active
Term Description
This term was created for, but is not limited in use to, the Rod Intercept™ (RI™) as measured by the AdaptDx®. Rod Intercept™ is the duration between exposure to a bright light (photo bleaching using a flash) and recovery of a visual sensitivity by the eye's rod photoreceptors to a threshold of 3.0 log units of attenuation of the stimulus. The rod-intercept time is used to quantify rod-mediated dark adaptation (DA), and slower DA is associated with the early phases of age-related macular degeneration (AMD). PMID: 26522707
