Description
Pseudorabies virus (PRV) is an endemic disease in swine. PRV is also known as suid herpesvirus 1 or Aujeszky's disease virus. The virus is spread through contact with the saliva and nasal secretions of infected swine. Secondary hosts of pseudorabies includes dogs, cats, cattle, rats, and horses (via direct contact with swine). Symptoms of infection are similar to rabies in dogs. A swine vaccine for pseudorabies is available. Source: Regenstrief LOINC
