Version 2.78

Description

The chemokine (C-C motif) receptor 2 (CCR2) gene is located on chromosome 3p21. A single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) of G to A at position 190 changes amino acid valine (GTC) to isoleucine (ATC) within codon 64 (CCR2-V64I). This change is associated with a reduced risk of progression to AIDS in HIV-infected individuals, renal transplant rejection, multiple sclerosis and development of breast cancer. The CCR2-V64I polymorphism may also reduce the risk of cervical cancer in some women, but study findings are conflicting. PMID: 20537184 Source: Regenstrief LOINC, PMID: 20537184
