Description

Parathyrin related protein levels distinguish PTH and tumor stimulated hypercalcemia due to squamous cell CA and breast CA. Parathyroid hormone related peptide (PTHrP) is now known to play a major role in hypercalcemia of malignancy. It has been identified as the major causative agent in tumors that were previously thought to cause hypercalcemia through skeletal metastatic involvement.
