Description
Paraldehyde is a Schedule IV depressant used most frequently in a hospital setting to treat delirium tremens associated with alcohol withdrawl. Paraldehyde is sometimes used to treat certain convulsive disorders, including status epilepticus. Paraldehyde causes the patient's breath to have a strong, characteristic unpleasant odor, which lasts about one day after stopping use of the medicine.
