Description
Enteroviruses are small, non-enveloped, single stranded RNA viruses in the picornavirus family and include coxsackievirus, rhinovirus, echovirus, and poliovirus species. They are the most common viral pathogen worldwide, and clinical manifestations range from mild, cold-like symptoms to severe infections, including encephalitis, aseptic (viral) meningitis, and myocarditis.
