Admission priority
Active
Description
The admission priority indicates the general level of acuity of the patient and how quickly clinical intervention or resuscitation is necessary, from newborn to elective to emergent. The priority and diagnosis or reason for admission have some overlap but are not the same. For example, one patient with leukemia might be admitted emergently for sepsis, while another patient with the same diagnosis might have a scheduled admission for chemotherapy.
