Version 2.78

Description

Canis familiaris (Can f) 4 is a dog dander allergen. Dog dander consists of the very small pieces of epithelium that flake off the dog and can remain airborne for hours. Dog dander has the highest concentration of allergens of any source from the dog. The rate of epidermal turnover varies with the age of the dog and whether the dog suffers from seborrhea, which increases turnover from 21 days to 3-4 days. The most significant dog allergen is Can f 1. Can f 4 is a less important dog dander allergen.(http://www.phadia.com/de/4/Produkte/ImmunoCAP-Allergens/Epidermals-and-Animal-Proteins/Allergens/Dog-dander/) Source: Regenstrief LOINC
