Transient ischemic dilation
Active
Description
Transient ischemic dilation (TID) of the left ventricle (LV) is the phenomenon whereby the LV undergoes transient enlargement of the cavity and thinning of the walls as evidenced by cardiac imaging. TID is associated with severe coronary artery disease and ST depression on EKG. The exact mechanism of TID is not known, but it may be related more to the dilatory effect of diffuse subendocardial ischemia compared to the effect of increased end-diastolic pressure.
