Buprenorphine-3-glucuronide
Active
Description
Buprenorphine (tradename Buprenex), is a long-lasting, high affinity opioid that acts on the same receptors as heroin and morphine but does not produce the same intense high or dangerous side effects. It is used for the treatment of pain and opioid dependence. The major buprenorphine metabolites are norbuprenorphine, buprenorphine-3-glucuronide (B3G), and norbuprenorphine-3-glucuronide (N3G). The analysis of buprenorphine and metabolites is performed to monitor compliance to drug therapy. Source: Regenstrief LOINC
