Myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein Ab.IgG1
Active
Description
Myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) is a protein made up of two polypeptides with molecular masses of 26 and 28 kilodaltons, respectively. MOG is located on the surface of myelin and oligodendrocyte cytoplasmic membranes and binds to the monoclonal antibody 8-18C5. PMID: 1373175 MOG is a probable autoantigen target associated with multiple sclerosis (MS) and other demyelinating diseases (DD) of the central nervous system. PMID: 1373175 That being said, there is variation in the level of MOG antibody found in patients with MS and DD with inconsistencies between MOG antibody measurements using western blot and ELISA test methods, making it a questionable biomarker for DD. PMID: 17294606 MOG IgG1 is the most prevalent isotype of IgG in patients with DD. PMID: 29063242 Source: Regenstrief LOINC
