Iothalamate
Active
Description
Iothalamate clearance is one method used to measure a patient's glomerular filtration rate (GFR). Iothalamate is a type of radiographic contrast that is primarily cleared by kidney glomeruli, and timed measurements of intravascular and urine iothalamate are used to calculate the actual GFR. Iothalamate clearance is less likely to overestimate the true GFR compared to creatinine clearance. PMID: 20167698 Source: Regenstrief LOINC
