The Streptococcus anginosus group, also known as milleri group streptococci, is a subgroup of viridans streptococci that includes 3 distinct species with clinical similarities: S. anginosus, S. intermedius, and S. constellatus. The S. anginosus group organisms are generally considered to be normal human flora of the oral cavity, gastrointestinal tract and female urogenital tract, but they also are a known cause of purulent infections and abscesses PMID: 20007382.
