Version 2.77

Description

Bile acids (BAs) are conjugated to either taurine or glycine. Various disorders are associated with different BA profiles. Alcoholic cirrhosis has been associated with extremely high levels of the taurine-conjugated BAs taurocholate, taurochenodeoxycholate, and tauroursodeoxycholate, moderately elevated levels of glycine-conjugated BAs, including glycocholate, glycochenodeoxycholate, and glycoursodeoxycholate, and mild elevation of nonconjugated BAs (cholate, chenodeoxycholate).
