Description
The prostate cancer grade group is based on the 2 values from the Gleason scoring system, but provides what has been suggested to be a simpler and more accurate stratification. The redefined 5 "grade groups" may have the potential to reduce overtreatment of prostate cancer. The grade group system has a lowest grade of 1 (instead of 6 for Gleason score), and distinguishes the Gleason scores 3+4=7 and 4+3=7 as 2 separate grades.
