Description
Corrective lenses use prism to adjust image perception with both eyes to a single fused image. Each lens may have a horizontal, in (towards the nose) or out (towards the temple) and/or vertical, up or down, prism base. Prism measurements are reported in X-Y orthogonal coordinates (horizontal in/out, vertical up/down) or P-B polar coordinates (prism plus the angle of the prism base direction). Prism lenses are commonly used to treat diplopia and strabismus. Source: Regenstrief LOINC
