Description

Sandfly fever Naples virus (SFNV) was isolated in 1971in Italy from the sandfly Phlebotomus perniciosus. SFNV belongs to the family Phenuiviridae, genus Phlebovirus [NCBI Taxonomy: 206160]. The primary vector of SFNV is Phlebotomus Papatasi. Sandfly fever Naples virus and Sandfly fever Sicilian virus infections share symptoms and clinical similarity.
