Vinculin Ab
Active
Description
Vinculin (VCL) is classified as a cytoskeletal protein that is believed to function as an anchor to F-actin and the cell membrane. Antibodies against cytolethal distending toxin B Ab (CtdB Ab) can cross react with vinculin. Vinculin and CdtB antibodies are useful as biomarkers for irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhea (D-IBS) and may help distinguish D-IBS from inflammatory bowel disease in the workup of chronic diarrhea.
