Version 2.78

Descriptions

Allo-tetrahydrocorticosterone (5a-tetrahydrocorticosterone) is highly sensitive to adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) secretion. High levels of 5a-tetrahydrocorticosterone are a warning sign of hypertension. Allo-tetrahydrocorticosterone (allo-THB) is, among other steroids like pregnanetriol (P3), an important marker in the urinary steroid excretion profile for the occurrence of an adrenal 21-hydroxylase-deficiency. It's concentration also is an indication for the effectiveness of medication (cortisol suppletion) against this disease.
