Transcutaneous oxygen (O2) and carbon dioxide (CO2) monitor sensors include a heating element that heats the skin at the sensor site, which causes the blood vessels to dilate and allows for more accurate measurement of O2 and CO2. This term represents the temperature of the sensor.
