.Net Software Developer

Regenstrief Institute, Inc. is seeking a .Net Software Developer to join our creative, intellectually stimulating, open work environment that creates leading edge medical informatics applications.

We are looking for a systems engineer to help us build the Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes (LOINC) vocabulary standard. Today, LOINC is being used in nearly every corner of the planet, and is now a part of national health programs in many countries, including the U.S. In fact, there are tens (if not hundreds) of millions of patients with billions of medical test results stored in health records around the world that are coded with LOINC. In your role on the LOINC team you will be working with world-class scientists and building tools used both by our internal team and the world wide community of LOINC users.

We want to hire a motivated, hard working individual who wants to accomplish great things. To be successful, you must thrive in a close-knit team environment. You will be responsible for completing projects and tasks as directed and prioritized by the investigators, supervisors and the team. At the same time,you must be self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision. We are a small team, and so our roles are not narrowly niched. You must be able work on a diverse suite of projects that use a wide range of technologies. Our primary development is done with Microsoft technologies, but we also use a variety of open source ones.

Key Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft technologies, including: .Net Framework, Visual Studio, C#, Visual basic
  • Working knowledge of SQLServer or other relational database
  • Expert knowledge of object-oriented analysis and programming

Your duties include, but are not limited to:

  •  Maintaining developing fat client applications
  • Web based application development and maintenance
  • Database development and maintenance
  • System maintenance
  • Creation of reports and queries
  • Legacy application support
  • User support

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience required
  • Three years of related work experience in information systems or software development is required
  • Prior medical-related work experience is preferred

Required skills and technologies:

  • Must be familiar with basic programming practices and the SDLC
  • Working knowledge  of the HL7 messaging standard is a must
  • Must have a basic understanding of controlled vocabularies
  • Ability to learn new technology tools as a standard practice
  • Demonstrated aptitude and interest in database design, systems development, programming, testing and implementation.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
